I cooked...barbecue turkey meatballs!

Lately I've been all about two things - barbecue sauce and the crockpot. And it seems turkey is on sale everywhere you turn right now so I took the plunge and made turkey meatballs in barbecue sauce this weekend.

1lb ground turkey
1 cup crushed crackers or breadcrumbs
1 tsp dried oregano
1 onion diced finely
salt and pepper

1 onion, finely sliced
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp worcestershire sauce

Mix the meatball ingredients, taking care to not overwork. Shape into balls and place on top of the sliced onions in the slow cooker. I used my giant crockpot for this so that they all lay in a single layer on the bottom but it probably doesn't matter too much.

Mix the barbecue sauce, sugar and worcestershire sauce and cover the meatballs. Cook on high for 3-4 hours.

I served this with cheesy mashed potatoes and corn. Yum!

I cooked...a New Years cake!

OK I'm taking it a bit far with the themed cakes here, the decoration certainly isn't much to write home about and both the cake and the outer frosting came from a box. But I did make peppermint buttercream which was amazing for the center!
